In my previous blog, I discussed the things I wish I had known before moving to Siargao. I also mentioned that it’s easy to figure out which area to stay in and some of the best Siargao Homestays you can find – I’m here to answer all your questions.
This blog will help you save the hassle and stress of looking for the best hotels or homestays.
Here’s where to stay in Siargao, Island before it gets too crowded:

Before we go to the details, here’s the pros and cons of staying in these areas:
- General Luna, Purok V
Pros: Close to every shop you can imagine.
Cons: Can get too crowded specially at peak season, some area are prone to minor flooding during rainy season. A bit noisy.
2. Tourism Road (Back road)
Pros: Close to intersection, easy to avoid checkpoints (if there’s any), a little quiet. Close to restaurants.
Cons: Prone to minor flooding during heavy rain, close to local neighborhood (they sometimes do karaoke very early or do cockfights in their backyard. Depends if you’re okay with this and wants to immerse yourself in local vibe)
3. Catangnan
Pros: Close to the beach, quick 3 minutes drive to check waves. Close to Cloud 9, close to famous Catangnan Bridge (Afam bridge). Quieter area far from all the parties.
Cons: Can be traffic at times, 3-5 minutes drive to main town area.
4. Santa Fe
Pros: Very peaceful, pure local neighborhood but a quiet area. Close to Ocean 9 (Less busy than Cloud 9), not a party area- slow living, close to Haole (really good restaurant), beach is nearby.
Cons: Far from the main town, 10-15 minutes drive to reach General Luna main area. Streets are a bit dark at night.
5. Malinao
Pros: Peaceful, close to secret beach, nice road, International Primary School nearby. 5 minutes away from town.
Cons: Properties and Villas in this area can be a bit expensive.
Top 4 Siargao Island Best Homestays
I personally stayed in these place.
1. Zahara House

The best part of the house is probably the kitchen and lobby where you can relax and read or even get work done – no need to go to a workspace studio.
This homestay has wide rooms, a kitchen, a lobby, and a mid-budget range good for someone who’s travelling solo or a couple who’s planning to stay long-term on the island.
2. Riad Masaya

This is located near Catangnan Bridge. The entrance may appear small beside the caretaker’s Sari-sari store, but don’t let the outside deceive you. My favourite part of this house is probably the kitchen and dining area. Lots of sunlight as well from the ceiling, making your stay as homey as possible.

3. Reside Siargao
I didn’t take any video or photos from this hotel but I think this deserves a mention since we’ve stayed here during Siargao’s power outage for a week. They have a generator, fully functional the whole day. The rooms are very well decorated, wifi is also good and has also a free breakfast every day.
Although I think the hotel is a bit pricey for an island, they do offer convenience when a power outage happens, which is common on the island.

This beachfront homestay is my favourite house we’ve stayed so far. We even extended our stay because everything felt just right!
The reviews on this place are true to what you’ll get. It’s spacious, beachfront, and good wifi.
This is located just 5 minutes away from Santa Monica’s town proper. Generally, the town’s pretty quiet, not much light at night on the streets as well, but in the morning feel free to surf or go for a run without thinking the crowd will get in the way because there is no crowd.
The perfect abode for your Northern getaway
