Dinagat Islands Travel Guide 2024: Things to do, how to get there, where to stay, and tourist spots!

I bet you’ve heard about Siargao, Palawan, and Boracay but not this Island.

I was in primary school when I first heard about the Dinagat Islands and I can’t help but wonder why it’s a lesser-known province even up to this day. Join me as we dive deeper into the wonders of the Mystical Province of Love – Dinagat Islands!

This travel guide will tour you around Dinagat Islands and show you some tips and hacks during your stay on the Island, ensuring you get the full Island experience!

Before I tell you how to get there, here are some things you need to remember:

BOOK A TOUR ORGANIZER!

Booking your tour organizer is as important as packing your IDs with you lol. Everyone who will visit the Islands of the Philippines shall be declared in their respective Tourism offices. But you won’t be doing that all by yourself! That’s why we have tour organizers!

I booked my tour through @Lumad Outdoors which has a collaboration with @The hoppy Feet Dinagat and this has made my island experience so much better. Let me know if you decide to book your tours with them! ๐Ÿ™‚

Although there are a lot of Travel & Tour options to choose from, these two are the best pair!

  1. How to get there?

Luzon – Surigao Route: This is the easiest route secure a budget for a plane ticket you can book a flight from Manila – Surigao

Here are sample flight prices:

Once you’re in Surigao Airport, ride a multi-cab or small jeep to the port the fare should only cost you 25-50 pesos.

Davao – Surigao Route: If you’re from these areas, take a bus to Surigao and meet your organizers at the port!

From Davao Ecoland Bus Terminal take a bus to Surigao City. It should take around 7-9 hours and will cost you 800-1000 pesos.

CDO – Surigao: Take a bus from Agora Terminal to Surigao City. It should take you about 6-8 hours and will cost you 500-700 pesos

2. Where to stay in Dinagat Islands

Since the Island is not yet known to many tourists, there are just a few accommodations you can choose from.

I stayed at Camagong Suites, which is located near the port and in the middle of San Jose’s Market very close to shops, and restaurants plus easy access to the road and boat! The hotel staff are very welcoming making sure we stay cozy and warm during our stay.

3. Top locations for your Dinagat Tour

Hagakhak Rock Formation

Hagakhak is a small Island in the west of a larger Hagakhak Island. There is no sandy beach that you can see but you’ll be indulged in the scenic rock formation view.

Blue Lagoon

Favourite Spot!

Just sail to Libjo, a few hours away from San Jose and you’ll arrive at Pangabangan Island.

The tranquil blue waters will surely captivate you! The Island offers tents for camping if that’s your thing. The limestones above have stairs so you can check out the view from above.

The Blue waters are just so mesmerizing! This Island looked very similar to the limestones in Palawan, Puerto Princessa.
We ate lunch here!

Basilisa Beach

I didn’t have the chance to take a lot of photos on this island my battery ran out but this Island has one of the prettiest beaches I have ever seen! The sand is fine, the water is warm very common on tropical islands!

View from the other side of the Beach

The islands of Dinagat have so much to offer and it’s impossible to visit all of them in 2 days!

I have visited a few islands and I cannot help but wonder why is this a lesser-known island. Maybe because of the history attached to this very Island but does that make the Island very interesting?

YES.

You shouldn’t miss this in the Philippines
